If you want to extend your diving season or just experience the spectacular aquatic life often
found in colder waters; you’ll need to stay warm and that means using a drysuit. If you want the
proper training and practical experience to use your drysuit, you need the NAUI Drysuit Diver
Specialty Course.

During your NAUI Drysuit Course we not only cover the knowledge related to drysuit diving you
get to practice it in confined water. Then once you’ve mastered confined water you make two
open water dives and apply those skills to real life.

Drysuits aren’t just for Great Lakes gorillas, Florida cave jockeys and mid-Atlantic wreck divers
anymore. The current thinking is that any diving with thermal loss decreases comfort and safety
is better performed in a drysuit. That includes long dives, deep diving, dives that involve little
movement (i.e. photography or marine life study) and repetitive diving.)

Hard, Cold Facts:

Water transfers heat away from your body 25 times faster than air. The colder you are, the more
at risk you become for hypothermia, out-of- air emergencies (cold divers use air faster) and
decompression sickness (a 30% higher risk when chilled). Stay dry and you stay warm. With its
system of zippers, attached boots and seals at the neck and wrist a drysuit keeps out all water,
leaving you surrounded by a cushion of air that your body warms to toasty levels.
