Trip Report Bonaire February 3th-10th
Bonaire, N.A.
From left to right: parrot fish, night dive at town pier, salt pier, and  pink beach
As Air Jamaica flight 66 landed, the 2007 Adventure Scuba Group had arrived on Bonaire.
We are finally here and on vacation! This was the first Adventure Scuba winter trip and we
were all looking forward to a great week. The group of 19 was made up of a good mix of old
and new friends and made for a promising week of good diving and good topside fun.
Bonaire is located about 50 miles off the coast of Venezuela, and around 12° N latitude. It is
part of the Netherlands Antilles and the “B” island of the ABC group of islands. The leeward
side of the island is where the majority of the dive sites are. Bonaire is know for its essentially
unlimited shore diving, the license plates read “Divers Paradise”. Most of the named sites are
accessible from the shore and are marked by large yellow painted rocks. A short swim from
the beach is where the reef begins in 20 – 30 fsw. It drops down to a sand plateau around
100 – 130 fsw. The diving is easy and the scenery and sea life are beautiful.
